Sean's Guide to Revamped Soul Masters

    Index:
    I. Introduction
    II. Pros and Cons
III. Rising Sun & Falling Moon System
    IV. Skill Build
    V. Acknowledgements & Disclaimers

    I. Introduction
Soul Master, the warrior class of the Knights of Cygnus.

Utilizes the power of the Rising Sun and Falling Moon.

The character card for Soul Master gives Defense.

    II. Pros & Cons
    Pros:
    • High Mobility.
    • Good HP.
    • Decent damage.
    • Doesn't require Mastery Books.

    Cons:
    • Low MP.
    • Elemental Reset is halved on Soul Masters
    • Cannot boss effectively if you do not have Korean-like latency.

III. Rising Sun & Falling Moon System
Soul Master uses a system somewhat similar to Luminous'. When in Rising Sun state, you cannot use Falling Moon and vice versa (For the earlier parts at least). Both states will give you different bonuses when active and your skills will be different depending on which state you're in.

    Falling Moon

When Falling Moon is active, your critical chance will be increased by 20% and the hit count of all your skills increased by 2 times. However, your damage will be reduced to 55% damage.

    Rising Sun

When Rising Sun is active, your damage will be increased by 20% and your attack speed will be increased by 1.

    Solunar Time

In 4th job, you will receive the ability to use both modes at once. When Solunar Time is active, you will receive the effects of both Falling Moon & Rising Sun states.

    IV. Skill Build
    Noblesse
Elemental Slash: Strike up to 3 enemies in front of you with a slash of unrefined elemental power dealing 130% damage.

Journey Home: Borrow Shinsoo’s aura to return to the side of the Empress. There is a cooldown of 30 minutes.

Elemental Harmony: Learn the harmony between the elements and increase your affinity for them, increasing your STR by 1 for every 2 character levels.

Elemental Expert: Your mastery over the elements decreases all your attacking skills’ elemental properties by 50%. This skill is unlocked after your fourth job advancement.

Elemental Shift: Jump once again while in the air by pressing the jump key with an arrow key.

Cygnus Blessing: The awakened Empress’ blessing protects you from enemies’ attacks, increasing your resistance to states and elements by 5% (10% for level 2). If other Cygnus jobs exist within your account, you can stack this Link Skill up to 5 times. If linked, this skill’s effects will be reduced to 2% (5% for level 2). (Link Skill)

    First Job
Triple Slash: Quickly slash up and down in front of you, dealing 90% damage 3 times on up to 4 enemies. (max level: 20)

Sword of Light: Imbue your sword with your soul, increasing your attack by 20 and your accuracy by 20% for 180 seconds. (max level: 15)

Element: Soul: Summon the element Soul to give all your attacks an 80% chance to inflict a stun debuff on your enemies for 2 seconds. Passive effect: increase your defense ignored by 10%. (max level: 10)

Inner Voice: By tempering your soul, listen to its voice, increasing your HP by 20%, defense and magic defense by 1000, speed by 40, jump by 20, and maximum speed by 20. (max level: 20)

    SP Allocation
    10. +1 Triple Slash (1), +1 Sword of Light (1), +1 Element: Soul (1), +1 Inner Voice (1)
    11. +3 Sword of Light (4)

    28. +3 Triple Slash (13)
    29. +3 Triple Slash (16)
    30. +3 Triple Slash (19)

    Summarised
    Sword of Light - MAXED
    Triple Slash - 19
    Element: Soul - MAXED
    Inner Voice - MAXED

    Justification
Sword of Light is maxed first as it not only increases your weapon attack, but also your accuracy by 20%. This will allow you to train faster and more efficiently at maps with higher leveled mobs. Next, Element: Soul is added so that the proc chance of the stun will increase and also for the 10% defense ignore. Inner Voice is picked up next to make you much more survivable and mobile. Triple Slash is left to the last as you already 1 hit everything, so there is no point in adding it earlier on.

Falling Moon: Receive the power of the moon within your sword, increasing your critical chance by 20% and the hit count of all your skills by 2x while reducing your damage to 55%. Rising Sun cannot be active while this skill is active. (max level: 20)

Inner Trust: Strike with unwavering belief, increasing your attack by 20 for 180 seconds. (max level: 10)

Nimble Finger: Through your will, your reaction speed is boosted, increasing your attack speed by 2 stages for 180 seconds. (required skill: 5 Sword Mastery) (max level: 10)

    58. +3 Silent Move/Loud Rush (13)
    59. +3 Silent Move/Loud Rush (16)
    60. +3 Silent Move/Loud Rush (19)

    Summarised
    Slient Move/Loud Rush - 19
    Trace Cut/Shadow Burn - MAXED
    Falling Moon - MAXED
    Inner Trust - MAXED
    Nimble Finger - MAXED
    Sword Mastery - MAXED
    Body and Soul - MAXED

    Justification
Sword Mastery is maxed first to give you more reliable damage and accuracy, hence, allowing you to train at slightly higher leveled areas. Next, Inner Trust is maxed because it increases your damage and helps speed up training. Nimble Finger is maxed next to allow for less rebuffing of it (personal preference). After that, we max Body and Soul as the scaling of STR and DEX added is pretty good and it does indeed provide a rather noticeable damage boost. Falling Moon is maxed next for the critical chance increase and also the slight decrease in the reduction of damage. Finally, coming down to the 2 attacks. Personally, I'd rather max Trace Cut/Shadow Burn as it is your main mobbing skill and hence, this will speed up your training. However, Silent Move/Loud Rush does have more utility, and thus, can be maxed in place of Trace Cut/Shadow Burn if you so desire.

    Third Job
Moon Shadow: Rapidly swing your sword around you, dealing 215% damage 5 times on up to 6 enemies. (required skill: 1 Falling Moon) (max level: 20)

Light Flux: Cut down 1 enemy in front of you with your sword and light, dealing 320% damage 3 times. (required skill: 1 Rising Sun) (max level: 20)

Moon Cross: Cut diagonally while pulling up to 6 enemies in front of you towards you, dealing 155% damage 4 times. (required skill: 1 Falling Moon) (max level: 20)

Sun Cross: Cut a cross while pushing up to 6 enemies away, dealing 290% damage 2 times. (required skill: 1 Rising Sun) (max level: 20)

Rising Sun: Receive the power of the sun within your sword, increasing your damage by 20% and your attack speed by 1 stage. Falling Moon cannot be active while this skill is active. (max level: 20)

True Sight: See through all your enemies with the soul’s eye, giving your attacks a 100% chance to reduce your opponents’ defense by 10% and their elemental resistance by 10% for 30 seconds. (max level: 10)

Soul Guardian: Borrow the power of an ancient soul, increasing your HP by 2000 and your defense and magic defense by 1500 for 180 seconds. (max level: 20)

Will of Steel: Overcome adversity with a soul stronger than any other, increasing your resistance to states and elements by 20% and reducing damage taken by 25%, while healing 5% of your HP every 4 seconds. (max level: 20)

Inner Shout: Concentrate on your mind and energize your body, increasing your attack by 30 and your STR by 40. (max level: 20)

    SP Allocation
    60. +1 Moon Shadow/Light Flux (1), +1 Moon Cross/Sun Cross (1), +1 Rising Sun (1), +1 Soul Guardian (1)

    97. +3 Rising Sun (11)
    98. +3 Rising Sun (14)
    99. +3 Rising Sun (17)
    100. +3 Rising Sun (20)

    Summarised
    Moon Shadow/Light Flux - 14
    Moon Cross/Sun Cross - MAXED
    Rising Sun - MAXED
    True Sight - MAXED
    Soul Guardian - MAXED
    Will of Steel - MAXED
    Inner Shout - MAXED

    Justification
Soul Guardian is maxed first as at this level, you'll be looking to be training at Sahel and Roids. Hence, any form of survivability is great. Next Inner Shout is maxed out in order to gain a huge damage boost, thus, increasing the speed of training. After that, Will of Steel is maxed as it will further reduce the amount of damage you take and as an additional benefit, you'll end up never having to use HP pots for a long time. True sight is maxed next in order to reduce the defense of tougher monsters (i.e. MP mobs). After that, Moon Shadow/Light Flux is raised to lvl 14 as this will help speed up training due to it being your main mobbing skill. However, it is not maxed as Moon Cross/Sun Cross has much more utility and is actually used quite extensively even in 4th job. Hence, Moon Cross/Sun Cross is maxed over Moon Shadow/Light Flux. Finally, Rising Sun is maxed last as you will almost always NEVER be in this state when training. Rising Moon state's version of the 3rd job attack skills synergize perfectly and are much better compared to their Rising Sun counterparts. Hence, Rising Sun is the last skill to be maxed.

    Fourth Job
Cygnus Knights: Receive the blessing of the awakened Empress, increasing the stats of all party members by 15% for 900 seconds. (max level: 30)

Dance of Moon: Cut 1 enemy in front of you with a sword that contains the power of the full moon, dealing 360% damage 3 times. (required skill: 1 Falling Moon) (max level: 30)

Speeding Sunset: Split 1 enemy in half with a blade that cuts through the sun, dealing 360% damage 3 times. (required skill: 1 Rising Sun) (max level: 30)

Crescent Divide: Like the waves of the moon, swing your sword around you with a blue colour, dealing 295% damage on up to 7 enemies. (required skill: 1 Falling Moon) (max level: 30)

Solar Pierce: Unleash a brilliant ray of red coloured sunlight, dealing 295% damage on up to 7 enemies. (required skill: 1 Rising Sun) (max level: 30)

Soul Penetration: With the power of Soul, summon swords with the strength of falling stars that fall to the ground, hitting up to 15 enemies for 850% damage. Enemies hit will be paralyzed for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, they will take another 850% damage. There is a cooldown of 120 seconds. (max level: 30)

Solunar Time: Depending on the cycle of the sun or moon, accept the flow of time, combining the effects of Falling Moon and Rising Sun for 200 seconds. Each time you use a Falling Moon/Rising Sun skill, the next one you use will be the opposite state (this does not affect the stat boosts from Falling Moon and Rising Sun, you will always have both active). (max level: 20)

Soul Pledge: Never back down in a battle due to the contract made with an ancient soul, increasing all of your stats by 30, critical chance by 10%, and stance by 100% for 180 seconds. (max level: 30)

Sword Expert: Your mastery over the one and two-handed swords is increased to 70%, as well as your attack by 30 and minimum critical damage by 15%. (max level: 30)

Unforeseeable: Break past your enemies’ defenses using unpredictable attacks, increasing your defense ignored by 30%. (max level: 10)

Master of the Sword: Completely master the sword and enhance your technique. In the Falling Moon state, increase your critical chance by 35% and increase your skills’ attack counts by 2x while decreasing your damage to 60%. In the Rising Sun state, increase your damage by 40% and your attack speed by 2 stages. (max level: 30)
Note: these effects replace the effects of Falling Moon/Rising Sun, they do not ‘stack’.

    Summarized
    Cygnus Knights - MAXED
Dance of Moon/Speeding Sunset - MAXED
    Crescent Divide/Solar Pierce - MAXED
    Soul Penetration - MAXED
    Solunar Time - MAXED
    Soul Pledge - MAXED
    Sword Expert - MAXED
    Unforeseeable - MAXED
Master of the Sword - MAXED
Leftover SP - 60 (55 if you decided to get Hero's Will)

    Justification
Maxing Solunar Time first is not mandatory, but for the sake of convenience, it is maxed first (rebuffing Solunar Time every 10 seconds is not cool). Next, Master of the Sword is maxed as it will greatly buff Solunar Time. Not only do you get increased critical chance, but you also get increased attack speed and damage! Everybody loves some of that. After that, Soul Pledge is maxed out as it provides a small stat boost along with 10% critical chance and 100% stance, hence, allowing you to train without having to worry about knockback. Cygnus Knights is then maxed for the 15% all stat buff that will greatly increase your range, hence, speeding up training. Unforeseeable is maxed next in order to allow you to ignore 30% of your enemies' defense (On a side note, you also get your 150 hyper skill when you max out Unforeseeable. Yay for 50 wa buff). Next, Crescent Divide/Solar Pierce is maxed out. Why? The simple logic is that it will greatly speed up your training, and by the time you get to SH at lvl 160, you'll have a maxed out mobbing skill ready to dish out some damage. After that, Dance of Moon/Speeding Sunset is maxed out in preparation to go for bossing. And finally, Soul Penetration is maxed out in order to allow you to bind bosses for a good 20 seconds.

Master of Sword doesn't stack with Solunar Time. Master of sword's effects only apply when you are in falling moon mode or in speeding sunset. Also I think that unforseeable should be maxed after solunar time because 30% pdr would increase the dmg by a lot.

You max Master of Sword because those effects replace the effects of Rising Sun and Falling Moon. And since you get both the effects of Rising Sun and Falling Moon while in Solunar Time, you'll get the upgraded effects as well.

I love the way that the new Soul Masters work! Also I thought that this was pretty helpful to me (since i cant read Korean) :)

I know solunar time is good, but isn't it a little hard to use?

Unlike with just a normal time (solar/lunar), solunar slows your attack by 1 sec. For example, when you use Crescent Divide, there is a slight delay before solar time comes out, then Solar Pierce will be casted.

Maybe its just me and my internet. I am unsure. Thus the question. Provide some insight please?

The delay between the changing of modes in Solunar Time is due to your internet. Hence, it is best to stay in one mode when doing stuff like bossing as it will be impossible to combo in Solunar Time properly.
