Play Udyr, Lulu, or amumu. They're one of the easiest to play champions in league and it definitely helped me learned the game step by step back when i was still learning. Happy mapling!

Well, it depends on your style to play, for me I favor Ranged champions, I play Ashe for now. (My only ranged heroes, excluding those free champions).
I have Pantheon as my first melee champion, but I quite not like the melee game play, but I'm still training. Got interested in Vi. Planning on getting her too.
Well, as you play, you'll need to know how to play each champions and polish the ones you play them well.
    Current Trance List:
    xTranquality - Level 12X - Zero
    xTrance - Level 114 - Xenon
    xTiffarin - Level 108 - Bishop
    xTyrant - Level 10 - Eunwol

Pretty much depends on the role you want.
For top I suggest Jax, since he has one of the lowest skill caps
For mid i suggest Kassadin since his abilities are pretty straight forward
For ADC Caitlyn, since she's an Attack Speed ADC and doesn't even use her abilities late game.
And for support I suggest Soraka since...well...Soraka is just the easiest champion.
Since you're so new to the game I don't suggest you playing Jungle yet, since ganking isn't easy and clearing Jungle camps with no Runes/Masteries is very difficult.

I do think garen and maokai are very nice for starter, it's because they have nice skill that make them tanky and having damage,if u can master them basically you're a tanker with lot of damage

I personally feel the starting champions depends on your play style just like other games such as Maplestory, if your a bishop in Maplestory, then you probably favor the bot lane support with a AD carry as a partner.
Start practicing and having a feel of the roles you probably can play and find a champion that fit your interest, then move from there. Most importantly, you need to invest time and effort to learning a champion and its a long process with little to none shortcuts.

Nothing could go wrong by playing with Lulu, very safe, hard to be useless since she has good support abilities and can be played as top/mid or support.
