    Camp Rant

Recently, I had an Annual Camp at my school, kind of like a tradition for the uniform bodies.
And I was a team leader for mine.
And here, the campsite is all planned by the team leaders.
But to be honest, it's only me who did the planning.
I did the layout, I did the sketch of the gadgets, I planned all the measurements.
Okay so we, the team leaders, our main job is to order our juniors to complete the tasks.
We give them an example of completing one, and the rest is up to them.
And when I showed them how to tie up the tent, the whole thing fucking collapsed.
And we, the team leaders, took the blame and punishment, for not ordering well.
How the hell is it my fault? It's their fault, I gave clear instructions, I FEEL LIKE I WAS TEACHING FUCKING KINDERGARTEN.
Then it all collapsed. Blame them, why us?
And when we couldn't finish building in time, the committee helped us.
Now we have to somehow repay by running around the school.
And the reason we couldn't finish was because they didn't teach us last year.
I mean, last year they did everything themselves, we didn't learn no shit.
But now, when we couldn't finish, it's our fault and we have to repay the favour.
Blame yourselves for not teaching us.

    That's not the worst.
Every year during campfire, our ex-committee will come back to check on us.
It's kind of like a tradition.
And as ex, you know you're already retired, you have no jurisdiction on us anymore.
Yet, every year when they come back, they punish us for no reason at all.
I mean, why give a fuck when you're retired?
Sleep the fuck off, man. Instead you just come here, punish us for no reason and walk away.
The most you can do is give us advice, suggestions and experience.
Not physical punishment in the middle of the night.
They say they're not torturing us, but I see them laughing their asses off while they see us being punished.
WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE ARE YOU???

Now after camp, shit ain't over yet.
Seems like the juniors somehow broke the tent when washing it.
They broke it, and the team leaders pay for it.
    WHY US? WHY NOT THEM?
A tent costs about 125 dollars, and they expect us to pay for 2.
Not only that, seems like we broke 2 hammers and a saw.
WHICH I DID NOT LAY 1 FINGER ON.
The tools are only used by the juniors, while we only do the orders for them.
And now when things are broken, we take the blame.
For the tools, our tradition is we need to pay 3 fold.
In the end, we need to pay for 2 tents, 3 saws and 6 hammers.
4 fucking leaders, paying for all that shit.
    YOU THINK WE'RE FUCKING BILLIONAIRES?
I'm already in financial distress, my family needs to pay house loans, and we are saving everywhere we can.
And now I need to pay for shit I didn't touch.
they said we could claim from the juniors.
    Come on, you're too naive.
Which junior would be willing to give that much money without having to face their parents?
Then comes the complaints and we are fucked as well.
    Stupid tradition.
I already have half a heart of leaving this society, don't make that another half leave too.

    And there's one committee I can't stand.
    He's the president.
I mean, he just fucking takes everything good and doesn't lay a finger on building shit.
When asking for help, he gives no fucks.
When eating, he takes from us.
What kind of president are you?
Are you setting this kind of example for future generations?
To be dickheads and doing nothing while you just eat, laugh, play and sleep all day?
I fucking had enough of him.

    tl;dr, I hate camping.
That's my rant, sorry for the wall of text.
I hope you guys would take the time to read it.
    If you don't that's okay I understand.

Seems like having a title in a certain club/bodies is such a big burden.... read what you had said I kinda lost the will for myself to be a leader...
Can gimme some advice on this? I was chosen to become some leader of Sports club and also the leader of the computer room...
This really cause me to feel depressed to be taking the job as a leader..
And one more think is that I need to take control of my senior.... I feel bad doing that.. and I'm not that close to the seniors so I'm abit....
    Scared..

Haha. My school also does that too. I think it's a tradition.
Well, the camp my friends and I went to recently (March), there was a teacher (Who's supposed to be the Scout's teacher-in-charge) and he just owns all the uniformed bodies to exam under the sun.
Well, we don't have ex-staff who check us back.
President owns all the members, eh? I got one president who was exactly like that before. When it's time for teamwork, he won't join, but when it's time for scoldings, "Oh, A Wild President had appear?!".

I got you there, Chong. I almost experience the same thing as you some years now. :DD

How do you guys actually handle all these stress, accusing, punishment and embarrassment. Mind give me some advice? because I'm lack of leadership skills and have no experience in ordering people and becoming a leader... How to cope with those burden and stay strong even you got a punch on the face each day or each week. I would like to know that. Thanks T.T really in depression now...

For this, you'll want to assume you're in a camp as the title is regarding camping.
Well, first for embarrassment. Er.... Don't think it as a way to embarrass you, think it as a way you might get new friends. In a negative way one might say you're embarrassed but in a positive way one might say you're active, willing to do anything.
Accusing? Well, for me, I'd just accuse him or her back. For instance, when someone is supposed to built up the tent and you have given them instructions, that someone forgets. When a teacher come for a check-up, the teacher might ask who's faulty. That someone, of course, does not want to admit it. So, he or she will accuse someone of his or her fault and oh, he or she chooses you. Since, you're not guilty. Why don't you accuse him back? You're not just going to admit that right?
Stress, What stress do you mean?
Punishment, if it's a game, then accept it. If it is not, try to seek for an explanation before you got punished. I got punished once before when I was not faulty at all. Well, it is night and it's around 5:15 in the morning. I woke up and getting ready for the gather which was supposed to be 5:45. Well, I leave the dorm (as we're staying in one), going towards the gather place. It was like 2 minutes early when I got there. There were teachers there and they saw me. They suspected me for going somewhere else and got me punished.
Leadership skills are mostly horned (Idk if I'm using the right word for it) when you know your team.

If you want, then do what you like. For instance, when I want to relieve my stress, I would just game, listen to music, watch videos, etc. Actually, most of them can be solved by doing what you like, though.

Thanks for the advice.... But I'm still not confident in myself....I'm always a pessimist person and think that I will cause a disaster to everything.. I have no confidence in myself at all. How can I break through that barrier and find confidence in myself.

I agree with you at this point. Although the leader had to be punished ( as always, no particular reason), the main fault, the juniors, needs to be punished.
Getting away from punishments is showing them they could get away with any shit because the leader gets punished in place of them.

    In my case, however, scouts.
When someone does something wrong, the whole platoon gets punished.

As for your committee, they sound like dickheads. They really do. Its just nobody would dared to stand up and point out that they were the generation that fucked things up.

Yet again, giant dickheads. As a senior myself, i would make a point to visit my juniors. But i don't have the rights to do anything, because i am not in control anymore.
You can't just go around ordering people to do things because you're a senior. The most you can do is point out what is wrong. Thats it. I would actually suggest you to quit this shit if i din't know the efforts you put in.

At this point, you would have to bring the ones who tore the tent, and ask them to pay for it. Sure, you would have to bank in abit as well, it is not avoidable, but shit happens.
Bring the boys who tore the hammer, the tent and the saws, explain to them nicely, and ask them to pay up, not the full sum, but at least pay a portion of it so that your wallets do not appear to be onions.
Parents, if they are responsible adults, would understand and just pay up.

I bet the president is somewhat related to the ex-committee. Such poor leadership skill and lacking the correct attitude.I seriously pity you life Chong. Such a reputable school, filled with dickheads of many generations. Is it you, or the rest of the people hate him too? If it wasn't for the certificate for joining clubs, and if i were you, i would have just left that miserable hole filled with douchebags.
