    I've never understood state testing...

Why the heck would we have to take a test at the end of the year, after you've given us homework and multiple tests throughout the school year? I've never understood that. Also, why have homework? If people want to actually do their homework, go ahead and let them. But don't punish the people that don't do it if they want to be lazy and not practice for tests. It's their choice, not the teachers. Before you say anything, YES, I do my homework but I get stressed out a lot from too much of it and every once in awhile I just want to rip it apart and not do it. What's your input on this?

This is a terrible argument, homework is there to consolidate learning. Its compulsory because the school actually wants you to learn, not just turn up for class and leave. It is also one of the only ways that a teacher can see if a student understands what they have been taught other than testing. Thats the difference between school and tertiary education, at school the teachers want you to learn and do well, tertiary education is all on you lecturers are only there for guidance.

State testing is generally used for government funding, because it gives a relative ranking of schools on something that all schools in a state will do, which can lead the education board to question why some schools are consistently providing poor results.

Why would you not want to do homework. Its a necessity period.... but in my school system it does not depend on homework or knowledge and yes it might sound like I am a bum, but in my school it souly depends on what you turn in and what you don't for your final grade. If it depends on knowledge I would out rank the state and local standards ( so says my scores on state administrative boards which is kinda a lie but it still counts for high schools and colleges in my area I guess) So what I am trying to say is don't complain so much, others and I have it off alittle harder than you not to sound harsh or over grammatic but thats what goes here in good ol Louisville Ky. Also one more thing even if you get the better overall grades in classes on school report cards and what not you WILL NOT GET INTO HALF the high schools or colleges around now adays in my area (depends on skill, knowledge in that field , the way you carry yourself, overall behavior, and ETC not grades or not what you turn in) So keep with it and don't complain because its getting to a tier of society were you have to be excelling in one area or more to get a job or into a school that you want (so says my neck of the woods)
