    Announcement Time Discussion

Currently threads in the announcement forums close in something redic like 10 days to my knowledge (I've been watching one get bumped for a while), I really do think an admin should lower it to 3 days, normally KMS patches don't have to be discussed longer than a couple days.

Or, you know, manually close it like 3-10 days after the patch is released.

Andy(ouchiess) said 3 wolf is saying 3-10 lets go with 5 shall we? Because some people dont get enough time to go in the site for couple of days because of work/school/home crap.

No, because usually the info is released a day before, and by the 3rd people would already know everything that you could possibly ask... I say 3 days as well...

@Anzel, you don't need to post in it. The 3-10 is just in case something is off, because I know that Kreme puts up the threads and they aren't all fully translated/complete for the first 5 days. 10 days is sufficient time for events to be completely there and all questions answered. If anything is missing, a thread can be made after that.

Or, we could close it after the event is over for events and with patches just have a set window to post.

Manually closing is such a hassle when you have an automated system ready for usage.

Automated systems are coolio until noobs come along to break the loophole(s).

I agree, only a few days are needed, although, for anyone who needs it, 10 days should be fine. Maybe a notice could be implemented to the owner of the thread if they are a a Moderator, Administrator, Elite, or one of those important positions, giving them the option to keep it open if they believe it necessary. Regular members' threads would just automatically close after the 10 days.

Some people might want to keep their things open for polling or other reasons. There's a newbie guide made by a member that might need feedback (polls just don't really have too much freedom)
Also the Range posting and bossing threads and the like still need to kept open, because those things get updated all the time, but are MONTHS old.
Buddy list threads may be needed to be kept open (god forbid we don't add them within a week) but sometimes it's necessary.
but those are the only times I can think of when you might actually need to keep a thread opens. The rest, BURN IT. BURN IT ALL.
Edit: I know Admins can somehow "turn off" getting post count and points in certain forums like the introduction forum, I think we should do the same thing to rages and rants, probably buddy list (I've seen spammers all the time there), Possibly Screenshots (though for the most part, we just punish the tards anyway)
All Help-based Categories (except guides) should also be limited just simply because it's annoying to have someone getting points for asking for help (something about my mentality, point that this is too harsh if it is.) The rest is more of a case-by-case basis.
Without the prize of getting points and levels, those people won't want to waste their time spamming there.
But yes, i do agree with OP statement that those KMST and KMS announcements need to be shutdown after a week.
3 days just seems a little big much, since some people like planning ahead.

Thats a bad idea because at the rate Wolf and I complain about spammers, there'll be no more sections that give activity points.
