    Favorite and Best Class Stickies

Lately I've been noticing many people posting threads saying such things as "What's your favorite class?" or "What's the best class?". Occasionally, these are spam created in an attempt to gain points so that the creator can apply for an account. However, on other occasions, these threads are sincere. Unfortunately, they are rarely the later. However, I propose an idea that could possibly cut down on the amount of spam created by these threads. I propose that a stickied thread be created in the drill hall or the mindless talk section. The later, although less appropriate for such a topic, would prevent people from gaining points from spamming within the thread. Anyhow, creating such a thread would allow for users to post their opinions, their advice, and even their questions regarding what classes are most appropriate under certain conditions. If such a thread were to be created, spam threads created around the same topic could easily be disposed of, while still allowing for the questions to be asked. In addition to this, it would also allow for easier management of the questions, more answers, and being that it would be a sticky, no worry of necro-posting. I realize that there are amazing guides, such as the one created by Imaginal, that address the topic, however creating a stickied thread or two would allow for questions to be addressed more easily. Or, as a second option, being that Imaginal's guide addresses the topic, perhaps it could also become the official thread for questions of the sort to be asked. Such a thread could help cut down on spam while also allowing for people to have their questions be seen by more.

Summary: I propose a that a stickied thread be made regarding the two topics of favorite and best classes. Many people often wish to know such information, while others often just spam such questions in an attempt to level up. If such a thread was to be made, people's questions regarding the topic could answered while spam from such questions could be cut down by a lot.

I agree, when I enter the Drill Hall section there are 10+ threads all related on which class is the best/best to choose. In my opinion the idea of a dedicated, stickied thread to the topic COULD prevail. Even though, it may be cutting down on a fraction of the spam but some new members will continue making threads like this except with a different topic.

@John Thank you for your input. Regarding what you said, if the new topics that were created were to be somewhat legitamate, another stickied thread could always be made to address the new topic. However, if it isn't, it just makes it easier for the staff to delete said posts.

Well I agree the idea of grouping everything into one stickied, unified thread.
IMO, it would really cut down on the threads.
However, spammers WILL BE spammers. They can manage not to see the thread even if you smacked it in their face.
Just the other day, I read a thread like this.
i want to get kms acc badly!! any1 help?
You see, that's the kind of spammers that really get on my nerves.
I'm not against the idea of grouping all into one big thread, but my point is that people/spammers would still try to gain points by any means necessary.
If somehow this can be enforced through the rules, it would be better.
Like infracting any similar thread outside of the stickied thread.
For the best class thing however, we need experts who have played every class and make their reviews on the classes.
The In-depth Class Guide earlier was a pretty good example, but too bad it was shut down.
And make it obligatory to input their choices and their reasons, so at least their post would be meaningful.
But still if we become too meticulous and infract everything outside, it would make the forum seem a tad stricter.
Anyways, +1 for the idea, with some minor adjustments.

Besides making the threads stickied, i believe the thread must be closed after being stickied.

Yes putting the thread on a sticky would prevent the spammers from making posts, but spammers nowadays are good, they know where to spam.

Lets put a common thread as a example: Chong's training guide.

Closing the thread would be impossible as the thread needs constant updating. Nor would giving an infraction to everyone else who said" thank you, nice good, will put this to good use" accomplish anything, as some of them might really be glad Chong made the guide, while the rest was commenting to add post points for themselves to be eligible to apply for an account.

As for necroposting, I fell for one as i did not realized it was being necroposted, and got away from an infraction within the skin of my teeth. What could be the best solution for necroposting would be to shorten the gap from a month to say, 20 days or so. If you receive an infraction for necroposting, your application has a higher chance to be rejected. <----this might work as the main reason most people are here for is an account.

However, there is no stopping people from posting in the threads, as players ALWAYS compare what jobs are better, and with the upcoming RED summer patch, more of them would pop up. Although there would be a minority of new players who would want to understand what is the best job between one and the other, the thread would be another victim of the spamming cycle.

    What could be a solution:

1.Restrict the post that can be made by newcomers.
^No idea if this was implemented, never made a new account to try it so idk.

2.Making the drill hall section only available for players that are over level 5
^ giving this a thought, i am kind of unsure about it, because Leafre have more guests compared to members, and if we lock that section it might decrease in the number of visitors.

    3. Hire more active mods to take down unwanted threads
^ This could be helpful, or it might be a good idea to give elites the privilege to close the thread.

Above is what i hope could happen. I like your idea, hopefully Andy and Mario would notice your opinions and give it a thought.

Completely blocking the drill hall is a bad idea. They often want to learn about new classes etc. Instead they must be informed that you only post that in the future stickied best class thread. If they don't listen heavily infract them?

I think they have implemented this idea, where new members can only post every 30 seconds/30 minutes, I don't know.

Not good. The drill hall contains stuff that might be useful for them to choose their first jobs if they get into the game. Plus, even if you lock it down, they would still post it in the General KMS Discussion section, making it a spam pool for the others.

Actually our mods are being very active and Elites already have the power to close threads and delete posts if they're straight up spam.

I see. That's why i was kinda dubious about solution number 2.

As for no. 3, i wasn't stating that the mods are not active. I actually meant that imo, there are not enough mods. Dint know Elites having the power to close and delete posts. o.o

@Baconnnnnnn Thanks for the input, but some of your ideas, such as closing the thread, are kinda taking away from the idea. In my opinion, keeping the thread open would allow for people to ask questions as well as share their opinions. If the thread was closed, it would only serve as a guide. The point of having it stickied is so that more people can see it. In addition to this, people can't get infracted for necroposting on stickied threads. As such, no matter how long the thread has been inactive for, people could still post there. Regarding the spam, if an official thread was to be made, all posts relating to the same topic could be deleted, and all spam within the thread could be easily managed. If such a thread was to be made, perhaps a rule could be added about not posting about such topics outside of the official thread. It would allow people to have their questions answered on the official thread while the staff could more easily delete spam threads.

How about making a sub-forum? Like "Guides for which character to choose". People can post their oppinions on all jobs in this forum. And instead of having to look through the posts in the thread people can just view the thread straight away. It'll be more organised and easier to browse. Also it could be made a 0point section as when u post members do no get points to reduce the spam. This way members would see it first as it will be on the top. Just my oppinion, not sure if anyone agrees...
